Registration is Open for 10th Annual Frisco Turkey Day 5k

Presented by The Steadman Clinic and Philippon Research Institute

Registration is open for the 10th Annual Frisco Turkey Day 5k, being held on Thanksgiving Day; Thursday, November 23, 2023, at 9:30 am. Frisco’s Turkey Day 5k, presented by The Steadman Clinic and Philippon Research Institute, is open to all ages and historically draws over 1,000 costume-clad participants.

The Course and Street Closures

The race begins and ends at the old community center at 110 3rd Avenue near the intersection of 3rd Avenue and Granite Street, and will take place rain, snow, or shine, on Town of Frisco and County side streets, which generally see less traffic than the downtown area, as well as on the Summit County Recreation Path. Streets will remain open during the race, but there will be marshals on course to assist runners, and the route includes:

  • South 3rd Avenue (closed to vehicles between Granite and Teller Streets from 6:00 am – noon)
  • Pitkin Street
  • Stellar Jay Road, Bobwhite Way, and County Rd 1000 (outside of Frisco Town limits)
  • South 7th Avenue
  • Temple Trail, which is also part of the Summit County Recreation Path system
  • 2nd Avenue, before returning to Pitkin Street

The Town is encouraging motorists to drive extra cautiously if they cannot avoid these areas between 9:30 am and 11:00 am on Thanksgiving Day.

Weather and Conditions

Portions of the course will potentially include surfaces with packed snow and/or ice, and the event will take place snow or shine. The route includes many Frisco side streets, in order to avoid potentially deep snowy conditions on parts of the recreation path. Leashed dogs and strollers are welcome, but snow on the route may make pushing a stroller challenging. Participants should dress in layers and be prepared for winter running conditions.

All participants are also encouraged to make a non-perishable food donation at the event. Donations will benefit the Family & Intercultural Resource Center of Summit County.

Volunteers Needed

The Turkey Day 5k needs many volunteers to assist with day of registration and course marshaling. Questions about this event and volunteer sign ups should be emailed to Recreationevents@TownofFrisco.com.
