Girls on the Run 5K in Frisco on Saturday, November 11

On Saturday, November 11, 2023, the 9th Annual Girls on the Run 5k will take place in Frisco. This celebratory, non-competitive event is the culminating experience of a 10-week program open to girls in third through fifth grades. Members of the community who want to challenge themselves with a November run along Dillon Reservoir are invited to join Girls on the Run participants in this fun 5K.

“Girls on the Run is a confidence-building program that provides girls with the skills to set and achieve goals at an age when they need it the most. Finishing the 5K drives home the message for these girls that anything is possible and that they are more capable than they ever imagined,” stated Linsey Joyce, Recreation Director for the Town of Frisco.

Girls on the Run (GOTR) is a non-profit that seeks to inspire girls to be joyful, healthy, and confident using a fun, experience-based curriculum that creatively integrates running. The Frisco GOTR 5k is the designated race for all GOTR teams in Summit, Eagle, Park, and Grand counties, and race organizers anticipate that 300+ girls will be running in the Frisco event. In addition to hosting this 5k, the Town of Frisco is also sponsoring at the “Ultra” level, in recognition of Town Council’s strategic priority around supporting vibrant recreation in the community.

This untimed, fun run will begin at 11:00 am on Saturday, November 11, 2023 at Summit Middle School in Frisco. The course will be an out-and-back on the Frisco Recreation Path, and the race will start in waves. The course is relatively flat with spectacular views of the Dillon Reservoir, Buffalo Mountain, Peak One, and Mount Royal. This is a no-pet event. Participants with strollers are welcome; however, they must start at the end of the last wave. More information and $25 early registration (through November 8) are available online at gotrwesterncolorado.org. In-person registration is $35 on race day. Packet pick-up and day of registration are from 9:30 am–10:30 am at the Summit Middle School in Frisco. Parking will be available at Summit Middle School, and participants are encouraged to carpool to the event if possible.
