Summer Pop-Ups

Pop-ups are great opportunities for fun, free experiences for all ages, combining education and entertainment at the Frisco Historic Park & Museum. Events happen seasonally, so keep checking back to see whatโ€™s next!

June 8, 2024, World Wide Knit in Public Day, 11:00am-2:00pm

Surprise! We are celebrating fiber arts by participating in World Wide Knit in Public Day on June 8, 2024! Bring your favorite project, a blanket or chair, and gather at the Historic Park Gazebo for a relaxing afternoon. All types of fiber art and experience levels are welcome, whether youโ€™re brand new to fiber arts or a seasoned fiber artist. You can also bring any extra supplies to trade with others!

Attendees should bring water, their own supplies, a blanket and/or chair, and sunscreen. You are welcome to bring any supplies you would like to trade. Please do not leave any supplies behind.

What type of fiber art can I bring? And what is World Wide Knit in Public Day?

Knit, crochet, cross-stitch, macrame, embroider, whichever fiber art is close to your heart. World Wide Knit in Public Day is the largest knitter-run event in the world, with over 57 different countries. Their mission focuses on connecting the wide umbrella of fiber arts to celebrate the creativity, mental health benefits, and fun of crafting and creating- “Better living through stitching together!”

June 21, 2024, Bird Watching Hike to Rainbow Lake, 8:30am

Did you know Colorado is a top-ten bird-watching state? Join us for a free bird-watching hike with the U.S. Forest Service on June 21, 2024. Meet at the Historic Park Gazebo at 8:30am for a quick lesson on Summit County birds, then head out to Rainbow Lake with your trail guide, USFS staff member Rita Frederick. This hike is limited to 10 people. Please call the Museum at 970-668-3428 to sign up. We are unable to accommodate walk-ups for this hike.

The Rainbow Lake Trail is a 1.5-mile out-and-back trail with 150 feet of elevation gain. Please bring a water bottle, a hat, and wear sunscreen. If you have a set of binoculars please bring them with you. We are unable to accommodate pets on this tour.

June 30, 2024, Solar Pop-Up at the Historic Park Gazebo, 11:00am-1:00pm

We are partnering with AstroMark for a free daytime astronomy pop-up event in the Historic Park on June 30, 2024 from 11:00am-1:00pm. AstroMark will have his telescopes on site so we can safely observe the sun and learn more about the bright sunny skies.

July 28, 2024, Solar Pop-Up at the Historic Park Gazebo, 11:00am-1:00pm

We are partnering with AstroMark for a free daytime astronomy pop-up event in the Historic Park on July 28, 2024, from 11:00am-1:00pm. AstroMark will have his telescopes on site so we can safely observe the sun and learn more about the bright sunny skies.
