Run the Rockies Road 10K & Half Marathon Takes Place Saturday, September 16 On Tenmile Recpath

The Town of Frisco will host the 47th annual Run the Rockies Road Race on Saturday, September 16, 2023.  The half marathon will start at 8:00 am and the 10k will start at 8:30 am. The race will highlight the Ten Mile Range, as racers start near Copper Mountain, wind their way through the Ten Mile Canyon on the Summit County Recreational Path, and finish on Frisco’s Main Street. The 10k course is 100% downhill, and the half marathon course is 75% downhill. Racers and all other Tenmile Recpath users should expect, respect, and be aware of all recreational pathway users, and non-racers should anticipate heavy runner traffic through 11:30 am on Saturday, September 16.

“The 47th annual Run the Rockies Road Race will showcase epic mountain views of Copper Mountain and the Ten Mile Range, while giving racers a shot at a personal best. The 10k is a speedy, downhill course and the half-marathon is a bit more challenging as we turn runners back uphill before finishing on Main Street,” stated Grant McKay, Recreation Programs Manager.

Run the Rockies Road Race will have professional timing by Maverick Sports Promotions, stocked aid stations on course, a finisher gift, and a post-race party with pancakes, beer, and awards. This race benefits Frisco Elementary Parent Teacher Student Association (PTSA), which provides support for children, parents, and staff through advocacy, communication, safety, and fundraising for Frisco Elementary School. The Run the Rockies Road Race offers particular thanks to our race sponsors Peak Running, Pact Outdoors, New Belgium, and the Town of Frisco.

Shuttle

All runners will drive themselves to the race start at Copper Mountain’s Far East Lot. Peak One Express shuttles will take racers back to their cars after they finish the race. Shuttles will continuously run from 9:00 am-1:00 pm, with the last shuttle leaving the Frisco Historic Park at 12:30 pm.

Post-Race Party

The post-race party and awards will take place at Frisco Historic Park on Main Street where runners over 21 years old can enjoy a cold beer from Highside Brewing and some tasty pancakes from Chris Cakes. The top three male/female overall runners in each race and first place age category winners will receive prizes.
