Frisco Arts and Culture Council Seeking Three to Five Local Artists for Small Street Murals on Main Street and Offering $1,500 per Mural

The newly formed Frisco Arts and Culture Council is seeking three to five local artists to design and install small street murals in parking spaces on Frisco Main Street. Each mural is budgeted for $1,000, plus $500 for supplies.

Mural Site Details

The $1,500 budget per mural site includes all costs associated with the design and installation of the mural, including supplies. The design will need to be painted with water-based latex paint and must fit into a parallel parking spot, approximately 6 to – 9 feet long by 7 feet wide. Mural installation should take place between Sunday, July 23 and Saturday, August 5, 2023.

Project Goals

The Frisco Arts and Culture Council is seeking to support local creatives and add to the growing public art scene in Frisco, as well as supporting Frisco’s goals around art and culture as expressed in the Frisco Arts and Culture Strategic Plan. Murals should inspire a sense of surprise and delight through high-traffic areas, and create a visual connection between parklets separated by small open spaces. Designs should reflect the spirit and beauty of Frisco with whimsical and playful designs.

How to Apply

Artists who would like to submit a mural design may email RoseG@TownofFrisco.com by Thursday, July 20, 2023. Submissions must include a sketch of the proposed mural design and one example of a small-scale mural the artist(s) has already created.
